What wembleyheads has done in 2008

Recent stories by and about wembleyheads

My favorite memory of weeksjr

Weeks is so patient teaching me new things, even when I am terrified. Especially when I am terrified of things that shouldn’t be scary. Like sledding :) and rock climbing. No one else in the world has been that patient with me. Thanks, pal :)

The last time I saw leapfrogger

The last time I saw leapfrogger I helped her plant a vegetable garden in her backyard. Has it really been since May that we got together?! Good thing we are working on fixing that :)

A question I have about katherinestewart

WHAT?! You met Tim Armstrong? How? When? Huh? I must hear this story.

A story about michael

I had a song by the Happy Bullets in my head all day, courtesy of Michael. :) What a perfect fit for my mood. Thank you!

The real reason I want to meet wembleyheads

The real reason, in top 5 format.

  • Wembleyheads. Neither a wembley, nor a head. What’s the real story? Who’s the real hero here, the wembley or the head?
  • All this hippie-talk, does Wembleyheads actually wear Birkenstocks? Are there tie-die shirts in play here? Jangly anklets? Grateful Dead concerts?
  • What truth is there to the rumor that “Wembleyheads” is actually Abe Frohman, The Sausage King of Chicago? Some serious investigating needs to be done. Interviews must be conducted.
  • Wembleyheads… What does the laugh sound like?
  • Seeing as how Wembleyheads has committed to donate over $100,000 annually to the eradication of poverty in the world, how can one NOT want to meet this selfless, giving, caring person?

:)

Why I like wembleyheads

This woman cares about injustice.

She & I had talked about having lunch together sometime since our workplaces are in the same neighborhood. Today we did—but we didn’t eat anything. We spent the lunch hour-plus listening to speakers calling for divestment from companies doing business in Sudan, then marching arm in arm amid a crowd of students & activists, calling out passionate pleas like

XXXX, you can’t hide!
You’re supporting genocide!

What I want to say is, she has that wembleyhead of hers on straight. She is a centered, principled person who stands up and yells for justice. And I love that.

Why I like wembleyheads

I kind of expected, from wembleyhead’s pictures, that she would be a fun person. And she is! Just . . . really, really fun. She’s a good sport with a great sense of humor, and also considerate (she put up another attendee, and scanned in pics for my hubby and me), and obviously smart. If there was a “worth meeting” button, I’d click it!

How I met wembleyheads

Making the trip to my second Chicago 43T meetup was much more relaxed than it had been to make the trip to my first one. This is most likely because I relied on public transportation. I was looking forward to seeing RuthG’s domicile, and it turned out to be just as tasteful and charming as I had thought it would be. When I walked into the dining room where everyone was gaming, I didn’t see wembleyheads at first, because she was closest to me on my left side and my eyes went straight ahead, instead of around the circle. But when she said “hi”, I recognized her voice from our phone conversations.

wembleyheads is of average height on the short side. She is quite slim and (at least in the wintertime,) pale. She was wearing a bright magenta-pink sleeved shirt with a v neckline, which I later found out she loves, and a necklace of oval copper-colored stones, which I later found out she is ambivalent about but wore in an attempt to look “more girly” (she plans on shaving her head soon and is worried about looking too boyish).

Of all the people I met at this meetup, wembleyheads holds a special place in my heart because she decided to host me overnight and even go with me to my Quaker meeting in the morning (she probably won’t go again, it’s a little too unstructured for her, but I really appreciated the gesture), so we got a chance to really talk in depth. We discovered some important stuff that we have in common, and discussed formative life experiences. You know those meaty conversations that go on and on? Yeah, it was great.

It’s my understanding that a second gaming meetup is going to happen again before too long. I definitely hope wembleyheads will be a part of it, but even more importantly, I hope to see her again before then. She is simply irresistible and too much fun to wait months to see!

A story about wembleyheads

Oh another thing about wembleyheads, she draws an incredible penguin and monkey right off the bat. Monkeys and penguins! Yes!

A story about wembleyheads

We played board games. She has a great spark to her along with being very compassionate and interesting. :-)
